The Reality of Evolution
Our Business Development Director, Rob Norman, recently spoke about the reality of evolution in business and the necessity of adapting to industry changes. VBH is proud of its position at the forefront of technological advancements, endeavouring to pioneer the latest engineering developments within the industry. As home security is a massive priority for homeowners, we consider it a personal responsibility to provide a world class service.
The past few years have seen extraordinary shifts in the industry and economy. In Norman’s own words, “In our own industry, we’ve seen some massive evolution in the market in recent years. From the depths of despair during lockdown, we, as an industry, collectively rose like a phoenix from the ashes to achieve record results in the second half of 2020 and all through 2021. What goes up generally comes down, though, and we’re now facing a much-anticipated downturn.
It’s not fun, but we’ve all been there before so we just have to adapt (or evolve), and make the changes that will ensure that our companies remain healthy and fighting fit.”
Evolving the Business
We’ve worked hard to make smart, well-informed developments as a business. Whether it’s new staff, updated working practices or expanded product ranges, we’ve taken various steps to modernise and improve our service. By improving a key element of our business, we can create a knock-on effect that boosts all aspects, as we can expand installer networks, develop our brand and connect to a wider audience.
Our Q-Secure consumer guarantee is a perfect example of this. “The headline evolution for end users and those clever installers who use Q-secure to sell is that the top line compensation figure has risen from £3250 to £8000. That certainly grabs the attention.” Norman continues. “There have been many changes in the product mix that Q-secure Approved Manufacturers can choose to fit, too. The introduction of new hardware from both our own greenteQ range and from third party supply partners has meant that we can add even more choice to the guarantee.”
Exciting New Products
One of the best avenues we’ve used to embrace the reality of evolution in business is exploring innovative new products. One example is the greenteQ Invicta Shootbolt, a high-performance locking system for outwardly opening windows. The mechanism covers sash rebate sizes from 320mm – 1500mm, and consists of a gearbox with variable backset lengths. This feature is PAS24 approved and is a Q-Secure PREMIUM unit, meaning it is eligible for the PREMIUM guarantee when fitted with other PREMIUM products.
Norman referenced Q-Secure as a pivotal element of VBH’s business evolution: “We are proud that Q-secure is a multi-brand guarantee, so it is not just our own greenteQ products that are bolstering the ranks of approved hardware that Q-secure fabricators can choose from. The AGB ArTech tilt and turn system is proving hugely popular and that is now approved for use on Q-secure approved windows (in its PAS24 spec, of course).
That said, we are very excited to be adding even more greenteQ options for casement windows and residential doors in the coming months. Products in the final phases of development all combine ease of use with the high levels of security that the market has come to expect from our greenteQ brand.”
