Yale Mega Egress is a top quality hinge for large and heavy outward opening casement windows. Available in ‘8 inch’ (227mm) and ’13 inch’ (342mm) versions, Mega Egress can carry sashes up to 900mm wide, weighing up to 35Kg, or up to 40Kg when the sash is less than 800mm wide. The hinge opens to a true 90° (+/-2.5°) and the sash moves outside the frame upon opening, to provide a clear, minimum 450mm, aperture for egress compliance and to maximise the escape route size.
The 342mm hinge can be moved into an Easy Clean position that enables the user to clean the external glass from inside the building. The hinge will automatically reset to Egress opening mode when the window is closed after cleaning. Each length is available in variants to suit either 13-14mm or 16 – 18mm cavities so Mega Egress is suitable for use on most window profiles.
Sashes as narrow as 220mm can accommodate the smaller hinge. Although the geometry is different to that on a standard friction stay, Mega Egress can be used in conjunction with standard Hinge Protectors to meet the requirements of PAS24. The hinge is manufactured from hardwearing Grade 430 austenitic stainless steel, and is tested to BS EN 1670 Grade 5 as proof of excellent anti-corrosion performance. Contact us to find out more.
